The ZF wheels ended up working great for my rig. I ran her a little
easier all summer kind of experimenting with the efficiency at different
RPMs and found that I could still maintain a nice cruise of 27-28
and only burn 54 gph at 1750 or so. When I bumped her up to a 30kt
cruise she was burning around 60 at 1850. That is about 3 or 4 gallons
less than she burned at 1900 to get the same speed before.
I am not sure if the tubes help or not but
the whole package of shaft tubes and those wheels is really smooth
and we are burning less fuel and going faster with less turns throughout
the efficient range of our cruise. She trolls nice too...
